“Kellie Pickler” Album Review

Kellie Pickler released her self-titled sophomore album yesterday. Like most CD’s, there are a few songs that we could live without such as “I’m Your Woman.” Not only does it sound a little too pop (in our opinion) but we just don’t like the “oh-oh-oh-oh” in the background…kinda gets on our nerves- just a bit.

The ballads on the album are decent, nothing amazing. “Somebody To Love Me” is just an OK song. I guess we feel that she has more potential than this.

Kellie’s got a few good break-up/revenge type songs on this album. We love the lyrics of “Rocks Instead of Rice!” Cute song! Kellie also brings in her BFF, Taylor Swift, for “Best Days Of Your Life.” The girls wrote the song together and Taylor even sings the harmony in the song. We’re betting this is going to be a future single!

“Going Out In Style” brings out Kellie’s fun, upbeat side, which everyone seems to love (we do too!). Shoes must be this girls favorite thing, because she confesses in this one that she wants her ashes spread in the shoe department! We also like “Makin’ Me Fall In Love Again”- it’s a very fun, feel good song (great beat too).

Overall, “Kellie Pickler” is a good CD, it’s not necessarily the most amazing album we’ve ever heard, but it’s good. Kellie is definitely very talented; we love her and everything about her, but she’s no Faith Hill. We’re still waiting for her to show her full potential.

We’ve come to the conclusion that Miss Pickler has grown tremendously since her first release, “Small Town Girl,” back in 2006. Kellie is obviously a talented girl and we aren’t discrediting her first album in any way- We’re just proud of her progress over the past two years! It’s worth your money, so get out there and buy it!

I listened to the album yesterday on AOL and I agree with you both. It’ll be interesting to see how much more she grows with future albums and showcases all that she has to offer. Enjoyed it overall and will be adding it to my ipod soon.
