UPDATE: Taylor’s Hair!

Because we’re sure this is what you’re concerned with on your New Year’s Eve – LOL – but Taylor Swift just performed in Times Square and the whole hair mystery has been solved.  Same Taylor, same hair – no bangs, not straight, just as we suspected.

As far as her performance goes, she did a medley of 5 or 6 songs and sounded ok at times, a little off at others.  She definitely had the crowd pumped and had great energy – she even braved the freezing cold in New York City and had a sleeveless dress on!  She must have been freezing!!

Kellie Pickler is also on the New Year’s Eve special – she looks adorable (and TINY!) and she’s doing a great job interacting with the crowd!

Luke Bryan Reflects On 2008

Luke Bryan had a great 2008 and he chatted with GAC Nights: Live From Nashville about some of his favorite moments.  Luke said “Obviously, [the biggest thing in my] personal life is the birth of my little son, Bo. Then being able to tour with so many great artists. I toured the very front part of the year with Trace [Adkins] — I did seven or eight shows with him. And then I did 30 or 40 dates with Dierks [Bentley], and then all summer I was out with Kenny [Chesney] on half of his stadium shows. So to look back and to have such a productive year touring, professionally and personally, it’s been an amazing year for me. I’ll never forget it.”

Luke is celebrating the end of 2008 in a special way today – it is his wife’s birthday!  Happy Birthday Caroline!!

MTV Networks may pull its channels from your lineup on January 1st.

• MTV Networks wants our customers to pay millions more.  They are currently demanding price increases that are nearly triple the rate of increase under our current agreement. These increases would be excessive even in a strong economy, but given the current conditions, it’s simply not fair to our customers.

• MTV’s demands are outrageous and would force our customers to pay millions of dollars more per year. MTV’s networks are not worth so much more today than they were yesterday, especially given the fact that their ratings are mostly declining in recent years.

• Much of their popular programming is also available for free online. In this economy, we don’t believe it’s appropriate to ask our customers to pay so much more for programming with declined ratings or that’s available for free.

• We’ve successfully negotiated hundreds of programming agreements with other cable networks, many within the last few months. Our hope is that we will come to an agreement with MTV Networks that is fair to our customers.

In reading Anthony Kuzminski’s blog this morning, we came across something that was too good not to share with you.  In recapping the best live shows of 2008 and listing Kenny Chesney’s stadium show (the only country show to make the list) at Soldier Field in Chicago earlier this summer, Anthony said…

“I learned one definitive thing this weekend and it is why Kenny Chesney and his country music festival every year can fill stadiums at $50-$100; it’s because country music acts feel privileged to be performing for their fans, whereas rock stars feel that their fans should be privileged to be in their presence. This is precisely why Kenny Chesney will fill stadiums every summer and others will watch from the sidelines in envy.”

Is it just us or is that an AWESOME compliment to Kenny and to the other country music artists on the bill that day??  Love it!

Country Weddings of 2008

People.com counted down the top celebrity weddings of 2008 and two country stars made the list…

Sara Evans & Jay Barker – Sweet in a Vera Wang gown and escorted down the aisle by her three children, country singer Evans, 37, married former University of Alabama quarterback Barker, 35, on June 14 on a Franklin, Tenn., farm. Keeping with a cozy country theme, the guests dined, family-style, on fried chicken and mac and cheese.

Jewel & Ty Murray - Following a 10-year-long courtship, the singer, 34, and Murray, 38, a rodeo champion, eloped in a hush-hush ceremony on Aug. 7 at the Cove Atlantis in the Bahamas. Afterward, the bride (in Monique Lhuillier) and groom (in jeans and cowboy boots) called their parents to break the news and watch a beachfront fireworks display. “It felt like we were the only ones in the world,” Murray told People.

Country Babies of 2008

In an effort to recap some great country moments of 2008, we’ve tried coming up with a list of new country babies that were born this year.  Country music had some great new additions…

Harleigh Alexyia Tomlinson was born 5 weeks premature on January 14th to Trent Tomlinson & his then fiance (now his wife,) Jessica.

Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, welcomed their first child, Thomas Boyer Bryan on March 18th in Nashville.  Thomas is actually Luke’s first name as well, but the younger Bryan goes by the nickname of “Bo.”

Darryl Worley and his wife, Kimberly, welcomed their first child together on March 24th when Savannah Gail was born.

Rascal Flatts member, Joe Don Rooney & his wife Tiffany became the proud parents of Jagger Donovan on May 31st.

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban was born on July 7th in Nashville to first-time dad, Keith Urban and his wife, Nicole Kidman.

Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks welcomed her third child on July 25th with her husband, Gareth.  Harper Rosie joins big sisters Kathleen & Eva, pictured above.

Clay Walker and his wife, Jessica, welcomed his third child (her first) on August 5th when William Clayton Walker was born three weeks premature in Houston, TX.

Carolyn Dawn Johnson and her husband, Matt Fisher, welcomed their first child, Abigail Grace on September 16th.  Speaking of the new arrival, Carolyn said “we are in love!”

“The most beautiful baby you have ever seen” according to her proud dad, Evalyn “Evie” Day Bentley was born on October 4th to Dierks & Cassidy Bentley.

Isabella Sophia Gracin was born on November 12th to Ann Marie and Josh Gracin.  Isabella joins older sisters, Briana & Gabriella, and older brother, Landon, in the Gracin household.

Rucker’s Resolutions

It’s that time of year again…time to start thinking about what aspects of our life we want to change for the coming year.

Darius Rucker says he has two new years resolutions. Like most of us, Rucker wants to “get in much better shape.” He also wants to spend more quality time with his children and family.

Darius Rucker is kicking off 2009 by heading on the road with country music superstar Brad Paisley.

Attention Florida Fans!

The Florida Strawberry Festival has announced the full line up of entertainment for the 2009 festival which takes place February 26th- March 8th 2009.

Like always, the line up looks great! Artists such as George Jones, Rodney Atkins, Taylor Swift, Julianne Hough, Jake Owen, and MORE will be appearing. Tickets are fairly inexpensive ranging from $10-$45 each.

I know I (Lauren) will most likely be hitting up a few of these shows- how about you?!
