Hootie & The Blowfish NOT On Hiatus

December 20th, 2008

Hootie & The Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker has made a name for himself in the country music scene this year. Not only did he score a #1 single with “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It,” Rucker’s debut country album, Learn To Live hit #1 as well…but don’t think his solo career is breaking up Hootie & The Blowfish!

“We’re not really thinking about splitting up,” Rucker told Billboard. “The group wanted to stop touring every summer, to not go on the road every summer just ’cause we can. People wanted to do other things with their lives. We’re still a band. Even if something were to happen and we didn’t play for years, we would still consider ourselves a band. We’ve been doing this more than half of our lives.”

Nice to know that Darius isn’t forgetting where he came from. It seems like solo careers always seem to break up bands. We love us some Hootie!

His 2nd single from Learn to Live, “It Won’t Be Like This For Long,” is climbing the charts and currently sits at #21 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart!

You can catch Darius Rucker on the road this spring with Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley.
