Kenny Chesney Is Country Airplay’s Country Artist of the Year

Kenny Chesney has been named Country Airplay’s Country Artist of the Year, an honor that has not been lost on the country superstar.  “We make this music for the people,” explains Chesney, “and being recognized by Country Airplay says these new songs are still songs the fans want to sing along with us. After all, that’s what music always was to me: my life set to music… and when we go play across the country, well, you hear the fans singing these songs back to you – and you know they’re living the words and music every bit as much as we have… To me, you gotta sing songs you’ve lived, but that people have lived… You gotta go places the fans know and find ways to bring them along with you… I’ve had people say this isn’t profound music, but you hear the stories people tell you… listen to the way they sing along… hear the cheers when we get into certain songs… and you realize, these songs are how my fans live, what they love, how they let it all go. To me, what could be more profound than that?”

With 2008 drawing to an end, Kenny is already in the planning stages for his 2009 “Sun City Carnival tour” that will kick-off in April.
