2009
Saying I was excited about hearing Dierks Bentley‘s new album would be an understatement. I’ve been a Dierks fan for years, ever since I first saw him with Kenny Chesney back in 2004, but I became a Dierks lover last year after seeing his show a few times while he was in Florida. (His show is ROCKIN’!!) Anyway, I love me some Dierks…now let’s get on to the album.
The first 2 tracks, “Life On The Run” & “Sideways”, seriously make you feel like you’re at a Dierks show. They are everything I love about Dierks’ music & concerts – fast paced and fun! I have a good feeling “Sideways” is gonna be a single…it’s so much fun!
Of course we all love the title track “Feel That Fire.” Looks like Dierks is gonna score a #1 with that one!
After the first 3 songs, Dierks slows it down with “I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes.” This reminds me of “Come A Little Closer,” the token “let’s do it” song. It’s a great song and again, another potential single.
“Here She Comes” is another rockin’, fast paced song. I like the sound, but I don’t really understand what the song is about? Is it about a hot, bad ass chick? I’m confused. Maybe it’s because I’m blonde?
If I could go without a song on the album it would be “I Can’t Forget Her.” I just don’t like the sound, how they try to make it sound like a Spanish song…it’s just ok.
I like everything about “Beautiful World.” The message is great- we sometimes need to be reminded that the world isn’t just filled with hate, crime and terrorism. It really is a “Beautiful World” and sometimes we need to just step back and enjoy it.
I like the rest of the songs on the album too – but of the last couple, I really enjoyed “Pray.” It’s a great, raw, emotional song and I think we can all relate to that moment in a relationship when it’s just not working, and you know that it’s better if you go your separate ways. It’s sad, but so good.
Usually an album takes me a few days to warm up to, but I liked this one the first time around. It’s been a long two years, but it was worth the wait. “Feel That Fire” is awesome!
Go out and get a copy, you will not be disappointed!
In case you missed yesterday’s $3.99 deal on Amazon, you can still purchase the album for under 10 bucks!

Great review! I have to agree about ‘I Can’t Forget Her.’ It’s definitely my least favorite song on the cd too. There are a couple of the bonus songs that I would’ve preferred to hear on there in its place.

Just had to add my two cents! I had read that “I Can’t Forget Her” was originally recorded by Clay Walker, so I looked for my copy of his CD and sure enough–it’s on there. Not my favorite song on the Dierks FTF album, simply because it doesn’t SOUND like Dierks.
I agree with all your other comments, but a few you left off are some of my favorites:
*Little Heartwrecker–really clever lyrics and upbeat–She takes a big black ball, and a long strong chain, and she let’s it fall, again and again and again and again and again…she’s a little heartwrecker–can’t wait to hear this one live and sing along!
*You Hold Me Together–again, love the lyrics, especially “there won’t ever be a storm that I can’t weather, Cause you hold me together.”
*Better Believer-typical humble Dierks–he thinks he’s not worthy of all the great things that have happened in his life–but I think he is very deserving!
*Last Call – the token bluegrass song–usually I LOVE every BG song on every record he puts out, but this one is just “OK” for me.
Great album all around–I bought 5 copies including itunes!
