Kenny Chesney‘s concert tonight in Texas has just been canceled approximately 50 minutes into his headlining set. After sweeping large amounts of water off the stage due to heavy rain and being in the range of heavy, dangerous lightning, the show had to be called off.
There’s been no official word yet of any rescheduled date or refunds.
UPDATE: From Kenny’s camp…
Fifty minutes into the set, the amount of water that had fallen threatened the integrity of the stage. With the tonnage from the speakers, equipment and cables, it was ruled unsafe for the band to continue.
Kenny had this to say about the rain-soaked eveing…
“You know the weather’s lousy, but you look out, and the fans are hanging in there, having a good time. They’re in the rain, but they’re singing along – and you know they’re staying because they wanna see you. When you see that, there’s nothing in the world that’s gonna stop me from going on! If they wanna be part of the party that much, well, then, here we come…. And it’s kinda like sports, the game doesn’t stop for a little rain… And once you get out on that stage and you start playing, that energy from the fans hits you… you see all those faces having such a great time… and I won’t say you don’t notice the rain, but you sure don’t care. The fans are there…. They’re rocking… That’s all that you really sense.”

I have had that happen to me before 5 songs into the concert. It sucks but understandable that they don’t want to get electrocuted. I wouldn’t think it would be rescheduled but I may be wrong on that.

Why wouldn’t it be rescheduled? If he normally does a 90 minutes set, what will he do refund all that $$ since he only got to do 20 minutes?
Some people I imagine paid alot. UI understand for safety reasons you have to stop. I would think it would have to be rescheduled…jmo

I can see no reschedule IF fans did get 50 minutes and not 20…

Olivia – our “approximately 20 minutes into his set” was reported from a fan last night at the show, which we posted immediately after the show got called off. It was an approximate estimate from a fan – we would most certainly trust the official statement from KC’s camp.

Thank you ladies, if fans got 50 minutes then he may not reschedule or refund.
Someone told me his shows are normally about 90 minutes so he would probably not reschedule a whole show since the fans did get Lady A and Miranda.
Was last night a stadium show or is that tonight?

He really does care so much on the fans and them being happy.

It was terrible out there last night. I couldn’t believe they let Miranda take the stage at all, the lightening was right by the stadium for over 30 minutes before she went on and it was not letting up.
I understand both ways, but as someone who did buy a ticket, I hope of course he will reschedule, it was my first time to see him so I would love a full show!

The show was great even in the rain. I could not imagine a R/S or a discounted show since the show was almost over anyway. We got there at 4:30 the first act was around 5:45 and the show was cancelled around 9:30. That is over half od a show. Would it make since to R/S or sell discounted tickets? Each act performed for about an hour. That’s fair isn’t it?
