Dierks Bentley was in Nashville this week to have a more official celebration of his most recent No. 1 single, “Sideways.” Dierks gathered with record label executives and songwriters in the parking lot of the Sony/ATV Music Publishing building for a tailgating party, complete with beer tents, a hot dog cart, and bean bag tosses.
The Nashville heat was the subject of much discussion during the party, with Bentley joking to the crowd “My band sweats a lot more than we’re sweating right now. So shut up about the heat. This is what real folks do.” Mike Dungan, President and CEO of Capitol Records Nashville, wasn’t as forgiving of the heat as Bentley was. When it was his turn to speak, Dungan said “We shouldn’t put out any good records in March because you’ll have No. 1 parties in August — and that sucks.”
We’re willing to bet that Dierks doesn’t mind celebrating a No. 1 single at any time of the year! Congrats to Dierks and the entire Capitol Nashville team!!
