A police investigating is currently taking place involving “American Idol” alumni and country music singer Bucky Covington. Bucky was scheduled to perform in Ormond Beach, FL on June 30 at the Iron Horse Saloon. The promoter of the concert suffered chest pains and was rushed to the hospital and this is when, he alleges, Bucky, his brother, and his brother’s wife, took advantage of the opportunity to steal the cash box which contained an estimated $1,500.
TMZ spoke with Bucky who adamantly denied the accusations and further jokedĀ ”I’m just glad I’m big enough to be on TMZ! Thanks!”
The promoter has filed a report with police who are now investigating the situation.

UPDATE (7/25): Bucky has released the following statement on his Facebook page:
Hey Guys and Gals,
I’m sure most of you have seen the news on TMZ. This story is absolutely false in every way. I would never steal anything from anyone. I did not get paid, but went on to play my full show and had a great time performing for fans! I thank all of you for your continued support!

It seems really unlikely that Bucky would do that and risk what he has achieved so far. But best to leave it to the police to investigate and ferret out the truth. I suspect the truth is more nuanced than that, but we shall see.

There is no way this is true. Bucky would never do something like this.

I am so sorry to hear that you had a bad rap Bucky. I don’t believe everything I hear in the press, least of all TMZ.

This is just BS. No way would he risk his career for something so petty. He is such a nice guy.
