Alan Jackson & Lon Helton
Alan Jackson was honored as one of the newest inductees into the Music City Walk of Fame on Sun., Nov. 6 at the Walk of Fame Park in downtown Nashville. Lon Helton, host of Country Countdown USA and Publisher/CEO of Country Aircheck, presented the star to Jackson before the crowd of family, friends and fans.
Jackson addressed the enthusiastic crowd, “…after all I’ve been through and accomplished and all the great luck I’ve had, when I think about 20-something years ago, the first time I was driving down Music Row up there with a paper sack full of songs, I never could ever have imagined standing here in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame in the heart of Nashville and in the heart of country music, you know, and having ‘em put my name down on this concrete that’ll be here for a long time. That’s just something you never thought about and never dreamed about, really. I could thank a million people out there, but the fans are the ones to me that put that name there. I still try to write my music for you and…y’all are the ones who put it there.”
Kix Brooks was also among the inductees yesterday. He was inducted by country queen Reba McEntire, who told the crowd “People come into your life for a reason, a season, or forever. My friendship with Kix Brooks is forever.”
When it was time for Kix to speak, he told the crowd “I’m a fan. I truly admire special and talented people. I don’t know if I necessarily deserve one, but I’m really proud of it.” He also took time to thank his longtime Brooks & Dunn partner Ronnie Dunn.
Les Paul, Bobby Jones, Dottie Rambo, Manuel, and Dan Miller were were also honored with a star during the afternoon’s ceremonies.
