With the holidays now upon us, music lovers are enjoying the sounds of their favorite Christmas tunes and country stars are no exception. One of Kenny Chesney‘s favorite Christmas songs has always been Alabama‘s “Christmas In Dixie,” and when he recorded his festive All I Want For Christmas Is A Real Good Tan album back in 2003, he was joined on the tune by Randy Owen, the lead singer of Alabama.
“Growin’ up in the South, I can just remember hearin’ ["Christmas In Dixie] a lot,” Kenny recalls. “I mean, every Christmas, you heard Alabama. You heard Randy Owen singing ‘Christmas in Dixie.’ And it was just one of those songs that my hometown radio station played every year. And I just always remember lovin’ that song, and then I got into the music business and was able to get to know Randy and Mark, Teddy, and Jeff. They just mean so much to me. And you know, to have Randy come in and to lend his voice to one of my records was just an awesome feelin’. Somethin’ that I’ll be able to have forever. It’s pretty cool.”
Kenny’s Christmas album also includes the traditional tunes “Jingle Bells,” “Silent Night,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” and “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” in addition to the creative title track.
