Who’s Ready For A Country Throwdown?!

    November 2nd, 2009

    Country Throwdown Tour

4fini Productions, the company that produces the Vans Warped Tour, announced plans for the “Country Throwdown Tour” today.

Montgomery Gentry, Jamey Johnson, Jack Ingram, and Little Big Town are set to headline the tour which will run May 13-June 20, 2010.

Other artists confirmed for the first annual “Throwdown” tour include Eric Church, the Eli Young Band, Jonathan Singleton & The Grove, Lost Trailers, Ryan Bingham, and Emily West. (More artists to be announced soon)

Ticketing for the event will not be done in the traditional front to back format. Kevin Lyman, the founder of the Country Throwdown Tour, came up with a concept called “Ticket Takeover,” which will give fans the chance to purchase tickets as close as front row for one flat rate.

Montgomery Gentry’s Troy Gentry says he and Eddie  immediately jumped on this opportunity.

“When Eddie and I were approached about doing the Country Throwdown Tour we immediately said yes. We loved the idea of it being like a big festival, a big party. I mean, that’s what Montgomery Gentry is all about! We’re keeping the ticket prices low because we know it’s hard out there. Fans are going to get a lot of entertainment for their money. This tour is going to be a great experience for us, the other artists and especially the fans.”

    Bentley, Rucker, Nettles Talk Songwriting

    May 7th, 2009

    Dierks Bently Cover- American Songwriter

Dierks Bentley graces the cover of the country edition of American Songwriter this month. Dierks Bentley, his labelmate Darius Rucker, and Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles sat down with the mag to chat about the art of songwriting.

In his interview with the magazine, Bentley talked about what sets him apart from other country music singers…”I can’t sing stuff that is overly ‘country,’” he says. “I wasn’t raised on a farm and I’m not really comfortable singing stuff that’s not who I am. But I’ve traveled and I’ve been all over this country, and I’ve found that country music isn’t about wearing a cowboy hat and growing up on a farm. It’s a lifestyle, it’s a culture, and it’s a mindset.” (Click HERE for more of Dierks Bentley’s interview.)

Rucker told American Songwriter, “Country music is where the song is, and that’s why I think you see so many singer/songwriters going there.” (Click HERE for more of Darius Rucker’s interview.)

Nettles says songwriting is like a therapy session…”The emotionally, intellectual elite… they love the darkness,” Nettles admits. “And I do too, ‘cause it’s always easier to go to a dark place and work out all those dark emotions. That’s what you do: sit and go inside to try and untangle it. (Click HERE for more of Jennifer Nettles’ interview.)

American Songwriter also has MORE with music row’s songwriters, Holly Williams, and the Eli Young Band.
