Faith Hill performed a free concert for victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans last night.
“We are here for you still and you are not forgotten,” Hill said yesterday evening.
The concert was hosted by Tide for its Tides Loads of Hope program which provides a mobile laundry service that provides clean clothes to families affected by a disaster. Hill was named the program’s ambassador earlier this month.
“I feel like it’s my responsibility to give back,” Hill said. “When you’ve been given so much, it’s only right that I do what I can to help, if I can.”
The concert was a celebration of how far Louisiana and surrounding areas of Mississippi have come in the five years since the disaster. Hill is a native of Mississippi and her husband, Tim McGraw, is a native of Louisiana.
“My message is ‘Come to New Orleans and experience this great city,’” Hill said. “Yes, there are places that are still rebuilding and are not quite back yet, but when they do come back, they’ll come back better.”
