ABC’s New ‘Duets’ Competition Featuring Jennifer Nettles to Premiere May 24

By:

Country music fans anticipating ABC’s new show ‘Duets,’ won’t have to wait too much longer. The network just announced that the show will premiere May 24.

Sugarland‘s Jennifer Nettles will be judging the competition along with Kelly Clarkson, Lionel Richie, and Robin Thicke. She says she’s incredibly excited for the opportunity to find a duet partner and help jump-start a career. “To be able to watch the arc of the beginning of a career is super thrilling – really thrilling,” Nettles says in a promo for the new show.

“Duets” is a one-of-a-kind singing competition that takes the Superstars out from behind the judges’ panel and onto the stage. Clarkson, Nettles, Richie and Thicke set out on individual journeys across America looking for undiscovered talent worthy of being their proteges. Ultimately, each Superstar will choose two singers for their duet partners, and together the Superstars and their proteges will take the stage each week and perform in front of a live studio audience. In the end, only one duet will be at the top of the charts, and the winning amateur will receive a recording contract with Hollywood Records.

While Nettles has said she is nervous for the show to begin, she is already working on her strategy. ““For my tastes, I’m looking for BIG voices, males and females, who can sing diverse, dynamic music,” she writes on her blog. “If you have a strong, dynamic, voice, and if you like singing all types of powerful music, you could be my guy/girl.”
