Country hitmaker Billy Currington is facing charges from the Chatham County Georgia grand jury. The singer was indicted today on charges of making “terroristic threats” and the abuse of an elderly person.

The charges filed state that Currington is accused of threatening bodily harm against Charles Harvey Ferrelle in Tybee Island, Georgia on April 15. According to reports, the elder abuse charge was included in the indictment because Ferrelle is older than 65.

CNN is reporting that a bench warrant for Currington’s arrest was issued by a Savannah judge after the indictment was issued by the Chatham County grand jury. The jury reportedly “found sufficient evidence” against Currington.

The incident in question reportedly stemmed from an argument Currington had with the accuser in the waters off Tybee Island. Currington,39, was born in Savannah, but grew up in nearby Rincon, Ga.

After the news of the indictment hit the web, Currington posted the following messages on Twitter:

Currington’s record label has yet to comment on the situation. His latest single, “Hey Girl,” shipped to radio in March.
