According to TCPalm.com, Jake Owen and fiancée Lacey Buchanan applied for a marriage certificate at the Indian River County Courthouse on March 30. The report states that the couple has 60 days to make the document official by returning a signed copy to the courthouse.

The certificate will allow the couple to make the nuptials official anywhere in the state of Florida.

Jake popped the question on April 7, a little more than one week after the couple reportedly applied for the marriage certificate, while on stage at his annual charity concert in his hometown of Vero Beach, FL. Buchanan happily accepted.

While the engagement took place in front of thousands, including Jake’s closest friends and family, he says they plan to keep the wedding much more intimate.

“My life has always been about keeping things simple, and I don’t see either one of us spending a long time planning a wedding,” Owen recently told Country Weekly. “I have a lot going on this summer touring with Kenny [Chesney] and Tim [McGraw] and a lot going into the fall. We love this time of the year. We are both from Florida, so we are thinking it will be a cool, laid-back sunrise service on the beach. We might have a guy playing a little nylon-string guitar or something. I bet our wedding doesn’t last for more than 10 or 15 minutes. We love the idea of starting the day fresh … a dawn-of-a-new-day sort of deal.”

It sounds like Jake and Lacey could be Mr. & Mrs. by the end of this month!
