Kip Moore Hits the Surf In His Downtime
The past 18 months have been quite a whirlwind for Kip Moore. The singer released his debut album Up All Night, earned two No.1’s, and hit the road with superstars like Toby Keith and Eric Church. Although he’s been working non-stop, Moore tries to sneak away when he has the chance. The go-to spot? The beach.
“If I get three days off, I fly to the east coast and surf. There’s a cool little town just south of Charleston, S.C., called Folly Beach. I love going there. Plus, Charleston is a killer city,” Moore told CMT when he was in Chicago recently. “But then when I get a whole week off, I’ll go somewhere big, like Hawaii, Nicaragua or the Dominican Republic and surf there.”
Though he enjoys the time off, the work doesn’t seem all that bad either. Moore is currently on the road with Toby Keith and said he’s one of the best artists he’s toured with. “He’s gone through so much of the grind over the years, so he knows what it’s like to be in my position. And he makes sure his guys take care of us,” Moore said. “He’s come up to me a few times and said, ‘You bein’ treated right?’ I look forward to doing the same when I’m in his position.”
Moore is surely on his way to headlining a tour in the near future. In the meantime, catch him on the Hammer Down Tour with Keith and newcomer Drake White throughout the summer.
